If you're venturing through the enchanting landscapes of Meiringen, Switzerland, a visit to Restaurant Aareschlucht is not to be missed. Nestled amidst breathtaking natural scenery, this Swiss restaurant offers a charming blend of local flavors and a unique dining atmosphere that captures the essence of its picturesque surroundings.
At Restaurant Aareschlucht, the cuisine is authentically Swiss, with an emphasis on hearty, traditional dishes that will warm your soul. Imagine savoring a plate of bratwurst paired perfectly with the locally brewed Appenzell beer, a combination that local patrons and travelers alike rave about. The menu is designed with families in mind, featuring ample portions that cater to all ages, ensuring that everyone leaves satisfied. Whether you're looking for a quick bite or a relaxed meal, the options here are both fulfilling and delightful.
The ambiance is casual yet inviting, with a cafeteria-style setup that encourages a friendly, communal experience. Enjoy your meal outside at the standing tables while soaking in the stunning views, or opt for the cozy indoor seating that complements those chilly Swiss days. Despite some mixed reviews regarding service, the overall vibe of the restaurant remains upbeat and welcoming, embodying the spirit of Swiss hospitality.
A comment from a satisfied customer, Maťo Kyrcz, perfectly encapsulates the essence of dining here: "Amazing place, good food, friendly and helpful staff and the gorge is just wonderful. Should visit!" This reinforces the perception that a meal at Aareschlucht is not just about the food, but also about the overall experience of being in a location so rich in natural beauty.
For those planning a visit, be mindful of peak hours! As Max noted, “Expect to spend a bit of time waiting in line during lunch time,” so arriving slightly earlier or later than noon is a smart strategy to enjoy a more relaxed dining experience.
Conveniently located near large parking facilities and within a short walking distance to a train station, Restaurant Aareschlucht is easily accessible. This makes it a perfect pitstop for adventurers exploring the Aareschlucht gorge and the charming village of Meiringen. As Jelan Jović suggests, approaching the gorge from the opposite direction before concluding your adventure at the restaurant provides a scenic capstone to your day.
Overall, Restaurant Aareschlucht offers not just a meal, but an experience that blends robust flavors, stunning views, and the vibrant heart of Swiss culture. Make sure to include it on your itinerary when you find yourself exploring the beautiful cantons of Switzerland!

Good restaurant with some kind of "half self service". Bratwurst & Appenzell bier is always good combination. Price is little high because this is touristic place, my recommendation is to enter Aareschlut from opposite side and then to end adventure here. Near restaurant there is large parking, also with less than 10 minutes walk there is station for train to Meringen.

Decent sized portions, quick for take away, outside a few standing tables for consumption. Menu is kids/family oriented, but there are also 1-2 diverse specials of the day.

A self service place to eat. It's just at the playground. It wasn't bad but also no wow effect. Food was tasty but selection was limited while we were there. I would love to come back again because the Aareschlucht is very nice spot to visit.

Cafeteria style restaurant with traditional Swiss lunch options. Expect to spend a bit of time waiting in line during lunch time, so recommend to visit slightly before 12pm or after lunch rush.
